Meet our Founder & CEO

Judith Romeo is a seasoned compliance professional and visionary leader with over 40 years of experience in the banking and financial services sector. As the Founder and CEO of Compliance Matters Consultancy, Judith brings a wealth of knowledge and a steadfast commitment to helping businesses across the Caribbean strengthen their defenses against money laundering, terrorism financing, and proliferation financing.

 

Judith is a Fellow of the International Compliance Association and holds an International Diploma in Compliance. Her career spans both the private sector and central banking, including senior leadership roles at Bank of Jamaica, where she led initiatives aligned with Jamaica’s national AML/CFT framework and contributed to the successful completion of the country’s National Risk Assessment Report. She also played a pivotal role in developing internal control methodologies and risk-based supervisory strategies for Deposit-Taking Institutions.

 

Her extensive regional experience includes key compliance leadership roles at GraceKennedy Remittance Limited and CIBC Caribbean, where she implemented regulatory reporting systems, led AML/CFT compliance teams, and designed training and risk management programs across multiple territories.

 

Recognized for her deep expertise and professional integrity, Judith is widely respected for her ability to translate complex compliance requirements into practical strategies. She is a sought-after facilitator, known for delivering impactful AML/CFT Masterclasses and training programs to Boards of Directors, senior executives, and compliance professionals. Her training sessions are engaging, insightful, and grounded in real-world experience—reflecting her passion for building the capacity needed to combat financial crime.

 

Judith’s mission is clear: to support organizations in building strong, resilient compliance cultures through tailored training, strategic consulting, and trusted expertise. Her work is underpinned by a genuine desire to contribute to a safer, more secure financial ecosystem across the Caribbean and beyond.
